Just don’t trust the BIG GUYS to tell you the truth.
We recently had someone ask us about PFAs, since we have a new floss out called eoFLOSS. PFAs are polyfluoroalkyl substances and used in nonstock cookware. Most people have heard about the safety issues revolving nonstick cookware and how it begins to break down (or the lining breached) , making it not so safe.
Two of the most popular kinds of floss are made with either NYLON or PTFE. PTFE floss is floss that is “nonstick.” It’s the tough stuff, the most used stuff and the most dangerous stuff. There is no way PTFE can be made to be “PFA free” because PTFE is Polytetrafluoroethylene. While people who make PTFE floss, nonstock pans, etc. may claim that it’s PFA FREE or “nontoxic” it’s still a chemical burden that nobody should have in their bodies. Nylon is a better bet. It’s sometimes not preferred by people who have really tight spaces; however, we suggest using eoFLOSS Carbon Bright since it’s waxed or some sort of waxed Nylon floss.
Nylon floss is not “natural” floss like a silk floss would be, but it’s VEGAN since it’s not using silkworms either.
Some nylon flosses are just unwaxed and shred easily, while some are coated with wax to prevent that. Then there are expanding versions. We typically like the expanding versions since they GRAB plaque well and they can puff up between teeth, really providing a GREAT SCRUB.
While many flosses on the market are “flavored” we go a step further to coat and embed ours with activated charcoal for extra whitening effects and plaque absorption. We also coat every floss with NON GMO xylitol and organic essential oils, which provide SERIOUS measures against gum issues. Essential oils are naturally flavorful and get deposited into the gum line between teeth…where most people’s oral health problems BEGIN. NON GMO xylitol is the healthy kind of xylitol, not made from genetic engineered corn and studies have shown it’s usefulness to keep bacteria from sticking to teeth and gums.
