I’ve been thinking for years about making a deodorant, but what would make it ideal and for everyone?
I think everyone my age used Secret (the clack, clack) soft formula growing up. Now, that I’m older I am a bit horrified that I used it for so long during my young years knowing what’s in it. Antiperspirants are used to keep you from sweating, which really is not a good idea if you value your health and sweating is not only natural, but an important function of removing toxins. Deodorant is used for making you smell right during the day. I only use deodorant now (when needed).
When natural deodorant came along (a ways back), it really was bad. I remember the salt crystals, still being used by some people (mostly hippies) and those really don’t do enough to combat most people’s problems. I think some natural brands have done an excellent job and have come A LONG WAY, so much so that many people will use them now. Unfortunately, these few companies have been absorbed by multi-national corporations and the products have been cheapened.
I haven’t used a deodorant that I haven’t had to REAPPLY during the day (with it still not doing enough on some stinky days). Body chemistry strikes hard at anytime and some of it’s just related to FOODS!
Well, I found the Holy Grail in ingredients.
It was an ingredient I was going to use a long time ago when I started making tooth powder, but I couldn’t get it to work because it tasted so bad (like sulfur)- it’s bamboo salt, which is roasted over and over again, and the alkalinity (base) and antioxidant capacity is so high it can keep a nail from rusting!
Since sweat is so acidic “and virtually a corrosive byproduct” (LOL), it keeps you from stinking without reapplying it once it’s suspended in wax, etc.
It’s not the cheapest ingredient but a little goes a long way and the results are SUPERIOR and kind of shocking for such a pure formula with a few ingredients.
A word on scents: I decided not to use any scent, because I dislike synthetics and I know that they should not be applied to skin, especially near very large lymphatic drainage points, like the underarms, and I know that it’s a wild card on natural scents (like essential oils) and their reaction to an individual’s personal body chemistry. For example, lavender and sage are oils that can make just about anyone smell “spicy.”
Scents are fun, but they don’t last and at the end of the day, we just don’t want to stink (WITH CONFIDENCE), and most of us value you our health and know that constant repetition can create health issues.
Bamboo Salt Deodorant will be here shortly! Just check the SHOP page for it.
