Kids Oral Health – Tips You Haven’t Heard

Kids Oral Health -Helping Kids Make Better Decisions, Early! Kids Aren't Great At Brushing and Kids Oral Health IS IMPORTANT - it's a fact. Most adults know how to brush their teeth well enough.  Helping kids properly can be tough.  My sister has 3 of them, under 6 and it's like herding stray cats. FLUORIDE - Is that the only option for kids oral health? One of the biggest issues and debates in oral care is to use fluoride or NOT.  Fluoride does help remineralize the teeth; in fact, it's the only thing the ADA accepts.  Unfortunately, fluoride is toxic (especially to small bodies) and let's face it, kids don't really rinse their mouth out when they are done brushing, and even if they did, the oral cavity absorbs EVERYTHING almost instantly (it's why medicine is pushing in the direction of oral applications)! Fluoride is also also heavily prevalent in our tap water (we get plenty of what we need if fluoride was the actual answer). Fluoride is not [...]

Chemistry Corner -Teeth Whitening, The Yellow Truth About Fluoride!

2020-05-12T18:55:30-04:00September 11th, 2018|

Hi folks, this is my first blog post for Frau Fowler to talk a bit about chemistry!  I know, I know, you’re thinking I’ll either bore you to death or you won’t understand what I’m saying.  Well, I promise (mostly!) to do neither. I want to take little bit of the fear out of chemistry. I know it's dorky but chemistry is really a beautiful thing!  It’s all around us and totally inside us and its what makes all the biology and the world work. But yes, there is some scary stuff too. Just because we can do a thing doesn’t mean we should do a thing.  We and the sciences have come such a long way and the future is scary bright in areas of medicine and technology just to name a couple of areas. The trick is to stay mindful, really understand unintended consequences and think about a ‘global’ good not a narrow good. OK, enough soap box.  Time for a little science.  Just a little! Let’s [...]

New Team Member- Eileen Koop, Chemist

2019-11-18T22:15:48-05:00August 15th, 2018|

We hired Eileen Koop, an OTC and Green Chemist from Elbert, Colorado to head up operations at Frau Fowler in Colorado Springs, Colorado. To show our commitment to producing effective and natural oral care and personal care products, we felt this was an important move for Frau Fowler. One of the things we love best about Eileen is not just her background, but how straight forward she is (just how you would imagine women scientists to be). We aren't TOUGH LOVE Organics, for nothing! Eileen has over 30 years of experience making products like Oxiclean, Orange Glo, the first anti-aging skincare lines, Scott's Liquid Gold, even COLGATE. We won't punish her for working for the dark side! My background is more medical in nature. I come from a long line of physicians, am a medical non-fiction write (on curing the impossible- autoimmune diseases and Lyme disease), have been a health coach for over a decade to physicians, Hollywood stars and more.  My personal tragedy of getting sick (with the incurable) is really [...]

8.5 Best Natural Oral Care Tips (You’ve Never Heard Of)

2021-01-28T11:44:49-05:00January 29th, 2018|

#1 If you can’t pronounce it, investigate it.   The mucosal lining of the mouth is 90% effective in absorption. This is all of the soft tissue in the mouth. It’s why we have sublingual vitamins. and they work! Once it’s in the mouth, you have absorbed it. There has been public service campaigns talking about cosmetics and the amount of toxins you accumulate over years of wearing makeup everyday, but little has been said about personal care items and even less about oral care. #2 If you have sensitive teeth, you need MINERALS!  The majority of people in the US have some sort of vitamin or mineral deficiency. Sensitive teeth mean enamel is wearing and your enamel is an extension of the bone underneath. Bones need minerals. Look for products, like ours, that are highly mineral based. All of our formulas use calcium carbonate and it’s found in almost all desensitizing formulas and it’s natural and edible. Direct application of tooth powder, containing no [...]

Why do I taste SALT so intensely? Salty taste in the mouth? Here are the reasons….

2021-01-28T12:13:43-05:00August 31st, 2017|

Let's dive into the reasons WHY salt taste so different to people. SALTY taste in the mouth? Salty Taste Reason #1 -Dehydration One of the biggest factors is that MOST people are actually chronically dehydrated. Yup, it's that simple.   When your body is dehydrated, you will taste salt much more extremely than those who are fully hydrated. If it's really bad, you will have a brine taste in your mouth constantly.  A typical average person usually gets the recommendation of 2 liters per day, but if you're active or live in a climate that is pretty hot and hostile, you're going to have to drink a lot more.  It's safe to assume closer to 3 liters a day for more people, seeing that most people are over 100 lbs and climates can vary. Salty Taste Reason # 2 -Electrolyte imbalance This is a real issue as well because again, many people have it.  It's also the reason why when you are in the ER, the first [...]
